[origin: EP1936202A2] The vacuum pump comprises a housing, in which a pumping system and an engine are provided, a gas inlet (9) and a gas discharge opening. A hood (1) partly surrounds the housing. An intermediate part is arranged between the hood and the housing. The material of the intermediate part is selected such that it damps the mechanical oscillations and acts as a thermal barrier between the housing and the hood.
