[origin: WO2007048538A1] The invention relates to a-ethoxysilane-modified polymers of average general formula (I), wherein R represents a monovalent to quadrivalent polymer radical, no more than one third of the radicals R<SUP>1</SUP>, R<SUP>2</SUP>, and R<SUP>3</SUP> contained in the polymer of formula (I) independently represent alkyl radicals with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, at least one fourth of the radicals R<SUP>1</SUP>, R<SUP>2</SUP>, and R<SUP>3</SUP> contained in the polymer of formula (I) independently represent ethoxy radicals, the optionally remaining radicals R<SUP>1</SUP>, R<SUP>2</SUP>, and R<SUP>3</SUP> independently represent methoxy radicals, and n = 1 to 4. The invention also relates to a method for producing the polymers of formula (I) and the use thereof in adhesives, sealants, and coating agents.
