The device (1) has a shaft (2), and a wiping plate (4) that is fastened at the shaft over a shaft connection (3). A wiping cover (5) is guided into an operating position through the wiping plate. The wiping cover freely suspends into a wring position (7) in a section-wise manner. The wiping cover is fixed in the wring position to a region of the shaft connection. The wiping plate exhibits a recess (8), where the shaft connection is positionable into the recess.
