[origin: EP1942466A2] The device has a mainframe (12) comprising a screen (28), a camera (30), a loudspeaker (34), a microphone (32), a functional key and/or keyboard (36), a control device (20) and a memory (22). The mainframe has a signal and data transfer device (24) with a network interface for signal transfer to and from a remote station by an Internet protocol (IP) network e.g. Bluetooth network. The mainframe has a reader (26) for reading an identification number stored on an identification card as a part of identification characteristic. An independent claim is also included for an accessing, monitoring and communication method for a protected local region of building, premises and estate.
