Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2007051818A1] The invention relates to a brake apparatus, in particular for motor vehicles, having an actuator (17) and a self-energizing device (2a, 3) for boosting the force which is produced by the actuator (17), wherein the self-energizing device (2, 3) comprises a wedge element (2a) which acts on a friction face (20) of an element (6) to be braked and has a wedge face (4a) which is supported on an abutment (3). Automatic clamping of the wedge element (2a) in the brake apparatus (1) can be prevented if the brake apparatus (1) has at least two wedge elements (2a, 2b) which are drive-connected to one another via a coupler device (7, 8; 15, 18), with the result that they move counter to one another in a direction (X) which extends parallel to the friction face (20).
