[origin: GB2444331A] The support base, for use with a structural element such as a post 80, beam, joist, comprises at least two spaced apart support elements 10, each of which comprises a ground engaging portion for anchoring the element to a support surface, an upper portion which, in use engages with the structural element, and a seat portion which extends between the ground engaging portion and the upper portion and which, in use, receives, supports and spaces the base of the structural element above the support surface. At least one support element is preferably formed from a single strip of metal, preferably steel or aluminium, which may be galvanised. The support elements are preferably formed with three bends within the strip and with each portion at right angles to those adjacent to it. The support element may include reinforcing ribs and one or more bolts 60, ties or other articles may be used to tie at least two spaced apart support elements together.
