[origin: WO2007048152A1] The invention relates to a load-lifting apparatus, in particular for the car industry, with an upper platform (1) and a lower platform (2) arranged therebelow, wherein the lower platform is held on the upper platform by traction means (3) and is movable vertically by driving of the traction means, and with bracing means (4) which are provided between the upper platform and the lower platform and comprise elements which can transmit both compression and traction, and with a mechanical synchronizing device which co-ordinates the vertical distance between the two ends of the individual bracing means with each other. In order to increase the stability and to reduce the dead weight, the bracing means (4) are each oriented obliquely with respect to two vertical planes, which are normal to each other, and run at least along one section between upper and lower platforms.
