Abstract (en)

There is provided a bed system having an elongated resilient support means formed of a support base and a bed mattress with one or both of the base and mattress including at least two longitudinally related portions of less than a quarter of the length of the base and mattress, each portion having a plurality of selected voids, solid shapes or resilient inserts to locally alter the resilience of the at least two longitudinally related portions for selectively adjusting the support means along its length the selection of voids, solid shapes or resilient inserts being predetermined by the measured dimensions of the user corresponding to the at least two longitudinally related portions in a lying position and the expected related weight distribution of the user at the at least two longitudinally related portions to result in selection of voids, solid shapes or resilient inserts to provide resilience of each respective portion of the mattress along longitudinal extension relative to the adjacent remainder to support each related longitudinally related portions of the user in a position similar to the profile of the user when standing.
