[origin: WO2007054647A1] A packaging machine comprises a preparation station 11 for preparing a sleeve MA from a stretchable plastic film wound flat around a storage reel B1, and a gripper device DP for taking hold of the sleeve and transferring it to the depositing station 15 for enveloping the load CH. According to the invention, the gripper device DP comprises at least one set of grippers 13 which is equipped with notched bars 18 to create differential stretch with the formation of a lunula. Each bar 18 is given a translational and/or rotational movement so that the bar can be extracted and the sleeve MA disengaged at the end of the depositing cycle.
