[origin: WO2007054630A1] The invention relates to a method of detecting a fire in a wooded area, characterized in that it comprises the following steps: providing some trees in the area with a fire sensor (3) provided with a radiofrequency emitter (7) able to emit information for identifying and/or locating each sensor, according to a grid of the area to be monitored; detecting at each fire sensor (3) the fire absent or fire present state, and making a fire sensor emit an alert signal, if a fire is present in the vicinity of said sensor, containing information for identifying and/or a signal for locating the said sensor, to a monitoring post (5); - transmitting the alert signal from the monitoring post (5) to the fire brigade by means of a long-range radiofrequency link.
