Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1953377A2] The engine has a tooth belt area covered by a tooth belt cover (7) and arranged at a front side opposite to a flywheel side. A crankshaft and a camshaft that is supported in a crankcase (1) are rotatably connected in an area below a cylinder head (2). An attaching surface for a water pump carrier (8) is provided at the crankcase and/or the head above the cover, where the carrier supports a water pump (9). Cooling water crossings are arranged in the crankcase and/or the head and cooperate with the carrier having integrated cooling water passing pipelines and a thermostat area (13).
