[origin: WO2007060395A1] A hinge-lid packet (1, 10, 100, 10') for smoking articles, such as cigarettes, cigars or cigarillos. The hinge-lid packet (1, 10, 100, 10') comprises a hinged lid (3, 12, 30) connected to a base portion at a hinge-line (15) on a rear panel (9) of the base portion. The hinged-lid (3, 12, 30) being capable of pivoting about the hinge-line (15) to open and close the packet (1, 10, 100, 10'). The hinged-lid (3, 12, 30) comprises a lid front panel (17) having a depth LH as measured from the top edge of the lid, the hinge-line (15) is positioned at distance A' from the top edge of the lid, and the packet has a depth H2 taken from the top edge of the lid to the bottom of the base portion. The dimensions of the packet are such that A' is greater than or equal to zero and the ratio of LH to H2 is less than or equal to one-fifth.
