[origin: WO2007054180A1] The invention relates to a method for updating card data of a navigation system (NS) in a vehicle. According to said method: a first version of card data is stored in a memory device (SPE2) of the navigation system (NS); a first version of card data and a second more recent version of card data are stored in a memory device (SPE1) of a card server (KS); a destination is selected on the navigation system (NS); destination data describing the driving destination is transmitted from the navigation system (NS) to the card server (KS); a first route to the destination is determined by the card server (KS) on the basis of the first version of the card data; a second route to the destination is determined by the card server (KS) on the basis of the second more recent version of the card data; and, according to the degree of concordance between the first route and the second route, the second version of card data and/or route data describing the second route is at least partially transmitted to the navigation system (NS).
