[origin: EP1956136A2] The arrangement has a press roll consisting of a roll shell (1), which is rotating around a fixed axle (2). The roll shell is compressed by a support device (3) of the axle for forming a press gap in a pressing direction (6) of a counter pressure element e.g. impression roller (4). Frequency of press gap runs lies between a natural frequency of the axle in the direction and the natural frequency of the axle transverse to the direction. The natural frequency of the axle is around 100 percentages higher than the frequency transverse to the direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a pressing arrangement.
