[origin: EP1956867A1] The device has a directional microphone (2) comprising a preferred direction of recording sound. An inclination determination device such as gyroscope (6) is provided for determining an inclination of the preferred direction of recording sound against a fixed direction with respect to surrounding of the hearing device. An alignment unit aligns the preferred direction of recording sound as a function of the inclination. The inclination determination device comprises a gyroscope, and determines the inclination using a liquid surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hearing apparatus.
