Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2432656A] A slot ventilator comprising a mounting member 10 mounted on a window or door to be ventilated, an elongate facing strip 50 connected to the mounting member 10 by a connection system 70, 75 and 80 that permits movement of the facing strip 50 away from the mounting member 10 between a closed and open position. Facing strip 50 moves between a closed and open position by moving a snib 20 in a left and right direction, and is also rotatable upwards or downwards away from the mounting member 10 so that the slot 40 is totally unobstructed by virtue of a hinge arrangement 80 comprising a ball 85 and socket 90 disposed at one end of the connection system. The connection system may comprise of an inclined pivot pin 70 connected to a tapered link arm 75 that is connected to the hinge 80 on a rear surface 60 of the facing strip 50. Support members 30 disposed along the slot 40 may provide added structural assistance to mounting member 10. The connection system may not be mounted in the slot 40 (fig 7) but either side of the slot 40. Pivot pin 70 may have a helical track (95, fig 8) to permit adjustment of the link arms 75. Hinge 80 may be a saddle type arrangement (figs 10 and 11).
