Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1959084A2] The electrically operated mechanism for the vertical displacement of a sliding fireplace door consists of a steel-wire (1) that connects the sliding door (4) to the dead-weight (5) and an electric motor (2) that sets the steel-wire (1) in motion. With the intervention of this mechanism the vertically sliding door can be opened or closed from a distance using an electrical switch or a remote-control system. Advantages of this invention are: a) The user-friendliness of the fireplace is improved and the danger of acquiring a bum during the manual operation of the door is eliminated, and b) The default position of the vertically sliding door is closed, due to the intervention of the electrically operated mechanism.
