[origin: EP1959571A2] The sensor element has a sensor element body, which is made of a flexible material. The sensor element (20) is formed in a box shaped manner with wall areas, which are adhered around a large intermediate space. The top surface (23a) and the bottom surface (23b) are formed from a front wall area and are connected with each other by a lateral wall area (25a,25b). The sensor element is made of an elastomer or a polymer, particularly silicone or silicone polymer. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a contact switching device with multiple sensor elements (2) a method for producing a sensor element.
