[origin: WO2008071216A1] Applicator mechanism for applying a liquid coating material comprising abrasive particles to a moving carrier web (1), having a support roll (4), over whose vertex-line region the carrier web (1) is guided; a doctor roll (5) which is disposed in the vertex-line region over the support roll (4), and which forms together with the support roll a metering slot, and which is rotated at a low speed in the opposite direction to the support roll; and having a feed unit (6, 8, 9) which supplies the coating material to the carrier web (1), without pressure, immediately upstream of the metering slot.
