[origin: WO2007065997A1] The invention relates to a device (1) for protecting an electrical installation against overvoltages, in particular transient overvoltages, comprising on the one hand a housing (2) within which is placed a component for protection against overvoltages which comprises at least two electrodes (3, 4) between which an electric arc can form in the event of an overvoltage, and on the other hand two connection terminals (6, 7) intended to link the electrodes (3, 4) electrically to said installation, said device (1) being characterized in that it comprises, placed within the housing (2) and arranged electrically in series with said protection component between the terminals (6, 7), a circuit breaker (10) sensitive to the strength of the current passing through it.
