The closure device (1) comprises a shank part (6) which extends in the direction of a longitudinal axis (5) and has end regions (7, 8) spaced apart from one another in the direction of the longitudinal axis (5), also comprises a plurality of sealing elements (12, 16) which are arranged in the region of an outer surface (9) of the shank part (6) and are intended for positioning against an inner, preferably more or less cylindrical, lateral surface (11) of the sample container (3) which is to be closed, this lateral surface being directed towards the longitudinal axis (5), and further comprises a head part (10). A plurality of first sealing elements (12), which are separate from one another, are arranged on the shank part (6), in the circumferential direction thereof, on the side which is directed away from the head part (10).
