[origin: WO2007068583A2] The aim of the invention is to determine a level, especially a safety level (N1) of a liquid container (SW) of an appliance operating with or processing a liquid, particularly a household appliance (HG), by means of a detector circuit (Q1, PB) which is connected to a liquid level sensor array (S1) and emits a warning signal when the respective liquid reaches or exceeds a certain defined level (S1) in the liquid container (SW) accommodating the same. Said aim is achieved by the fact that the liquid level sensor array (S1) comprises at least one liquid level sensor (S1) which is provided with an electrically conducting contact part (LE) that is disposed in an isolated manner and encompasses an area (FR) which is uncovered or exposed for contacting said liquid only at the height of the defined level (N1) while the contact part (LE) is connected to a signal input of the detector circuit (Q1, PB) whose reference potential input associated with the corresponding signal input is connected to the liquid.
