[origin: WO2007076993A1] The present invention relates to an improved process for forming disulphide bridges in substances which carry SH groups, more particularly peptides, for example by means of formation of intramolecular disulphide bridges, wherein a heterocyclic compound having at least one nitrogen atom (e.g. caffeine or a caffeine-like substance) is used to catalyse the reaction. Surprisingly it has emerged that the addition of the heterocyclic substance raises not only the yield but also the purity of product carrying disulphide bridges.
