[origin: WO2007070912A1] A description is given of aqueous paper sizing emulsions, for pulp sizing and surface sizing, containing fatty acid anhydrides, the anhydrides being derived from unsaturated or saturated fatty acids or mixtures thereof with chain lengths of C<SUB>12</SUB>-C<SUB>24</SUB> and being liquid below 50°C. The paper sizing emulsions optionally further comprise an additional reactive or non-reactive sizing agent and/or a fixative containing aluminium ions. The new emulsions are suitable for finishing paper and board.
