[origin: WO2007073723A1] Disclosed is a motor vehicle door lock comprising a locking mechanism (1, 2) that is substantially composed of a rotary catch (1) and a pawl (2). The motor vehicle door lock further comprises a locking mechanism damper (8) which limits both an opening movement and a closing movement of the locking mechanism (1, 2) in combination with associated locking mechanism stops (10, 11). In a special embodiment, the locking mechanism damper (8) is configured as a rolling damper that is rotatably mounted in the lock case (6) and/or the lock housing.
