[origin: WO2007071520A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling and/or regulating an electric motor. Such electric motors are used, for example, in motor vehicles, as pump motors. The electric motor is generally provided with electrical power from a battery and/or by means of a generator.The control and regulation is achieved by means of a high frequency pulse width modulation (PWM). The invention is based on a continuous increase in the motor current required for operation of the electric motor on starting up the electric motor by means of the PWM modulation, for example, from a value of 0 upwards.
