[origin: EP1967628A1] Production of spun-bonded fabric comprises spinning, cooling and stretching filaments and forming a web (11) from them on a belt (7) and passing it through a wetting unit (16, 17). It is then consolidated using high-pressure water jets and lifted from the belt for further processing. An independent claim is included for apparatus for carrying out the production method with a high-pressure water jet consolidation unit (23) mounted downstream from a wetting unit, a web lifting unit and post-treatment units (26, 27) downstream from the consolidation unit.
