[origin: WO2007073877A1] A clear or translucent fabric conditioner composition comprising: (a) 0.1-30% by weight a quaternary ammonium fabric conditioner active of the formula RR<SUP>1</SUP>R<SUP>2</SUP>R<SUP>3</SUP>N<SUP>+</SUP>X", wherein R is alkyl group having 16 to 22 carbon atoms, R<SUP>1</SUP>, R<SUP>2</SUP> and R<SUP>3</SUP> are alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and X is anion selected from chloride, bromide, acetate, sulfate, nitrate, and phosphate; (b) 0.1-15 % by weight hydrotrope selected from fatty alcohol ethoxylates and alkylene polyols or mixtures thereof ; 0.001-10% by weight fragrance; and (c) 45-99 % by weight water wherein nonaqueous solvents including short chain C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>6</SUB> alcohols, C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>4</SUB> alkylene carbonates and short chain C<SUB>2</SUB>-C<SUB>8</SUB> alkyl ethers are at levels not greater than 10% by weight of the composition.
