[origin: EP1970633A2] The rail extension device (4,5) has a rail that is moved relative to another rail and has a magnet arrangement for fixing end position of the former rail relative to the latter rail. One end of the latter rail is assigned a magnet of one polarity and another magnet of another polarity is arranged on a rear end of the former rail. The magnet of the former rail hangs in contactless manner from the fixed end position opposite to the magnet of the latter rail.
