[origin: WO2007079701A1] The invention relates to an electric field device (10) having a measurement apparatus (11) for detecting a measurement variable (MG) and a computation apparatus (13) for determining a measurement value (MW) from the measurement variable (MG). In order to protect such a field device from unauthorized copying with relatively little effort, provision is made for the field device (10) to have a parameter apparatus (12) which makes available at least one encrypted adaptation parameter (AP), wherein the at least one adaptation parameter (AP) takes into consideration measurement inaccuracies of the measurement apparatus (11), and the computation apparatus (13) is designed for determining the measurement value (MW) from the measurement variable (MG) using the at least one adaptation parameter (AP). The invention also relates to a method for producing a measurement value which is proportional to a measurement variable using such an electric field device.
