Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007081117A1] Provided is an inter-view frame reference method and apparatus used in multi-view video encoding. In the present invention, pictures at the sequence of spatially closer viewpoints are preferentially referred to from among pictures at previously encoded viewpoints in each Group Of Pictures (GOP), except for a basic GOP that makes only a temporal frame reference at its viewpoint, an Instantaneous Decoder Refresh (IDR) picture, and pictures at the last point of time of encoding.
