[origin: EP1972393A1] The method involves heating titanium sheet (5) by heat radiation of heating units (9) on a hot forming temperature, where the sheet is held between two sealed closed tool halves and the heating units are integrated in a form tool (1). The sheet is deformed against a cold tool contour under the effect of heated gaseous pressurizing medium free from oxidizing components and low pressure produced on a side of the sheet turned from the medium without counter pressure. An independent claim is also included for a forming device for hot forming a sheet from titanium based alloys.
