[origin: EP1972520A1] The method involves moving drive units (2) along a guide rail (3) by a transportation unit e.g. transportation belt, through entrance and/or exit area (61) for passengers. An additional guide rail (32) is diverged from a guide (42) along which the drive units are moved through another entrance and./or exit area (62). A control unit (7) is provided to receive outputs from sensors (71-74) associated with the areas, and the guide and the transportation unit are controlled by the control unit, where the units (2) are moved dependent upon the need of the entrance and/or exit areas.
