[origin: WO2007082858A1] A generator isolator according to the invention exhibits a resistor (30) in series with the cutout switch (20'); the resistor (30) is of fixed ohmic value, around 10<SUP>4</SUP> times greater than the value of the resistance of the main circuit of the isolator. By virtue of this configuration, it is possible to use a vacuum bulb as cutout switch (20'), and to dimension the main switch (10), which in actual fact cuts the current even for very heavy short-circuit currents under more advantageous conditions.
