Abstract (en)

[origin: DE102006001366A1] The device has three acceleration sensors (10, 12, 13) attached at an inner side of a bumper lining (15), and generating three signals depending on the signal form, when the signals exceed a noise threshold. A microcontroller detects the pedestrian collision depending on a time offset between two of the three signals. A timer device and the sensors are provided to determine the time offset, where the signal of the sensor (13) is utilized for plausibility. The sensors are connected with a control device by a two-wire line. An independent claim is also included for a method of detection of pedestrian collision.
