[origin: WO2007087659A1] What is described is a tensioning device for an awning (13) which can be unwound from a winding shaft (15), with a tensioning cable (10) on which at least one spring acts and with a cable store (1) for the tensioning cable (10). To provide advantageous tensioning conditions, provision is made for the spring to be formed as a gas spring (7) for tensioning the cable store (1), this store having two tensioning roller sets (2, 3) for the tensioning cable (10), which is guided back and forth between the tensioning roller sets (2, 3) so as to form a loop, the said tensioning roller sets being adjustable with respect to one another by means of the gas spring (7).
