Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007090416A1] A vascular lock with a guide tube (1), and with valve means (4) that are provided at the proximal end and that permit the insertion of a catheter or instrument through the access lumen of the guide tube and into a vessel, is provided, in the area of the distal end of the guide tube, with balloon occlusion means (12) that comprise an occlusion balloon (13), which can be connected to a source of pressure medium via a separate lumen in the guide tube, such that it can be alternately inflated and deflated. The vascular lock can be used for non-medicinal blood pressure modulation and perfusion modulation, for example by being introduced into the infrarenal aorta and blocking or freeing the aorta depending on the heart cycle. The vascular lock can be part of a system for non-medicinal blood pressure modulation and perfusion modulation that includes a source of pressure medium for inflating and deflating the occlusion balloon (13) and contains a control device that controls the inflation and deflation of the balloon occlusion means as a function of control signals that are received. Various control methods are possible for this control.
