[origin: WO2007090659A2] The invention relates to a method for producing alkyl melamines, characterised by a reaction of melamine with at least one alkyl-substituted ammonium compound, the at least one ammonium compound comprising at least one C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>4 </SUB>alkyl group. In this way, a simple method which is easy to carry out is provided for the production of alkyl melamines.
