[origin: DE102006004389A1] The device has a muffle limiting a cooking area and comprising a base-sided muffle opening. A control panel is provided for adjusting operating modes of the cooking device, and a display panel (36) is provided for displaying a representation suitable for the operating modes, where the representation consists of values for the operating mode e.g. temperature and cooking stage. The display panel is switchable to the representation after the adjustment of the operating mode. An independent claim is also included for a method for displaying a representation relevant to the operating mode.
