Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007076936A2] Conventional soccer boots taper in the forefoot region (V), between the instep and the toes, according to the resulting contour, which has drawbacks regarding foot hygiene and comfort as well as with respect to the playing technique and shooting technique. The novel boot has an improved contour (A) in the forefoot region (V), which is obtained by the fact that the mutual distance of the sole edges (S1, S2) in said region is not reduced along a minimum length of 10 mm while the sole and the top part are adjusted to the natural contour of the toes in said region, resulting in added space to provide comfort and relaxation. The risk of an accident is reduced while players can kick the ball with more power and accuracy and control the trajectory of the ball as the impact surface that mainly enters in contact with the ball is enlarged. Furthermore, the sole (2) is provided with a bending point (1) just behind the zone that is subjected to the maximum pressure, thus allowing the player's foot to always land with the same surface while the stress on the heel is alleviated. The bending point (1) is embodied as a weakened groove above which a non-elastic mesh (4) is incorporated into the sole (2). An elastic stabilizing mesh (5) can be arranged below the weakened groove, adjacent thereto. The interior surface of the rear shaft part that surrounds the heel can be fitted with an elastic expanding cushion in order to ensure that the foot is securely surrounded regardless of the constant movements of the foot and the sole.
