[origin: WO2007093703A2] This protective device comprises at least one interior mat (6) wound around the cable; means (8) for keeping the interior mat around the cable; and an exterior mat (9) wound around the interior mat (6) with an area of overlap (10) between its two longitudinal edges, this area of overlap being secured by adhesive bonding using a coat of heat-resistant adhesive (11). The invention applies to the suspension cables and cable stays used to suspend the deck of a bridge and to the prestressed cables that run along the outside of the concrete of the deck of the bridge.
