[origin: WO2007090632A1] The present invention relates to a hanging which is suitable as splinter protection and has optical and thermal functionality. Such hangings are required in particular in order to protect buildings from terrorist attacks. This concerns in principle any type of building, but in particular office buildings having large areas of glass. The basic idea of the present invention is to provide hangings which absorb the enormous energy, for example of an explosion, although irreversible damage to the hanging can also be tolerated. It is essential in this case that the hanging absorbs the acting energy and prevents, inter alia, any splinters of a glass facade which are possibly produced from flying into the room and injuring persons there. To this end, the hanging is designed as an inner or outer hanging, advantageously as a vertical blind/venetian blind or also as a roller blind.
