Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1985569A1] In a brake device for an elevator, a brake shoe brakes rotation of a brake rotor through friction to stop a car. The brake shoe can be moved into contact with and away from the brake rotor. A rotational torque applied to the brake shoe at a time of braking is received by a torque receiving portion. The torque receiving portion is provided with an oscillatory actuator for causing the brake shoe to oscillate in a rotational direction of the brake rotor.
