Cosmetic product comprising an active ingredient (A) selected from the following substances is used to sooth the skin during or immediately after oxidative hair treatment: N-acyl tryrosine-arginine dipeptide esters of formula (I), cacao extract, N-dihydroxypropyl amide derivatives of formula (II), hydrolyzed yeast extract, hydrolyzed lupin protein, rosemary extract, chestnut extract. peppermint extract, N-(C8-C30 acyl) 4-hydroxyproline C8-C30 alkyl esters, cholesterol, taurines of formula (III), linoleic acid, vitamin C or nicotinamide.
