Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007098036A1] A method is described for making an abrasive article comprising an abrasive part (1) and a backing (2) fixed to the abrasive part to provide for attachment of the abrasive article at a central location (3) to a rotatable shaft of a driven tool, wherein the abrasive part (1) comprises a substrate having abrasive characteristics. The method comprises placing a restricting layer (6) adjacent the abrasive part (1), injecting molten polymeric material onto the restricting layer, the restricting layer causing the polymeric material to spread over the abrasive part, and allowing the polymeric material to cool while remaining in contact with the abrasive part to form the backing (2).
