[origin: WO2007096007A1] The invention relates to a device for covering a danger area on a roll changer (01) carrying at least one roll of material (03), comprising a protective cover (02), a drive (04) moving the protective cover (02), and a control unit controlling the drive (04), wherein the protective cover (02) is closed in a first operating state and is open in a second operating state, the roll of material (03) having a first rotational speed or web speed in the first, closed operating state. In a second operating state, the roll of material (03) has a second rotational speed or web speed, the second rotational speed or web speed being greater than 0. The invention also relates to a method for controlling a device on a roll changer.
