[origin: DE102006009516A1] Test device for detecting an analyte in a liquid sample comprises a dry porous support with a reaction zone containing an analyte-selective binder, a biomarker/reporter enzyme complex and a reporter substrate, or an analyte-selective binder, a biomarker/reporter substrate complex and a reporter enzyme, where the enzyme and substrate interact to produce an optically detectable signal. The biomarker competes with the analyte for binding to the binder and binding of the binder to the biomarker inhibits the interaction between the enzyme and substrate.
