[origin: WO2007101952A2] The invention concerns a flexible compact rear axle comprising two longitudinal arms (10) connected by a cross-member (11), and a panhard bar (12) linking the two longitudinal arms to the vehicle body shell. The invention is characterized in that it comprises an additional transverse bar (17), distinct from the cross-member, the ends of which are fixed to the longitudinal arms, said bar (17) being capable of supporting tensile and compressive stresses along its axis.
