[origin: FR2897656A1] The method involves supplying a voltage, in the form of pulses having an amplitude and a preset duration, to a heater plug, where the amplitude is lesser than a maximum amplitude. The amplitude and the duration of the pulses are managed based on a set of parameters comprising preceding pulse duration and duration separating successive preceding pulses, where the parameters also comprise operating parameters of an oil engine and a desired temperature to be provided by the plug. An independent claim is also included for a system for controlling a heater plug.
