[origin: EP1995378A2] The mechanism (1) has a suction press roller (5) with a rotatably perforated roller sleeve (7). A suction zone (S) extends over a portion of an inner circumference (10) of the roller sleeve in a circumferential direction. A shoe press roller (6) is arranged inside of the roller sleeve, where the shoe press roller works against the inner circumference of the roller sleeve. A contact pressure of a pressing unit (15) parallel to a longitudinal axis of the suction press roller is controllable. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for modification of a pressing mechanism with a suction press roller for increasing adjustable line pressure in press nips (2) a pressing device comprising openings.
